At A Glance

This Sort Them Ducks 4 hour page covers No Time to Waddle (finish under four hours), I Don’t Do Buttons (no active-ability presses), and the ending where you copy a favourite duck — including Mr. Duck and the giant red duck. Sort Them Ducks is not a fail-state speedrun; the clock only matters if you opted into the achievement. Verified August 17, 2026 · Steam.

How do I beat the 4 hour challenge?

No Time to Waddle is “finish the game in under four hours.” Community optimized clears land around three hours, so the achievement has slack if you do not backtrack the whole shop. A first cozy clear is often 7–10 hours — that save is the wrong one to clock.

Buy order on the timed save

Same opening as the upgrades page, compressed: vacuum → bag → Auto-Shelve → sprint / throw / reach. Highlights wait until mixed piles actually cost minutes. QuackPOT waits until Jackpot! is the only hole — not during the four-hour window unless you already have leftover cash.

What four hours is not

It is not a 100% timer. Secret eggs, Maxed Out, and both copy-floods can live on the casual save. If a unique is clipped, pause the route and use troubleshooting instead of searching the shop twice.

How do I finish I Don’t Do Buttons?

I Don’t Do Buttons asks you to finish without pressing an active ability. Passives — Bigger Inventory, Sprint, Auto-Shelve on Throw, QuackPOT extras — are the intended loadout. Community hotkeys: Find Duck / highlight on [1], Collect Ducks on [2]. Skip those keys on this save.

Why this run is slower

Without the vacuum hotkey you carry themes by walking. That is why it must not share a save with No Time to Waddle. Efficiency Expert (15 from one Collect) and Duck Whisperer (50 Find Duck uses) belong on the button-friendly 100% save — see achievements.

What “finish” means

Same end as a normal clear: unique set sorted, then the office copy if you want Nice Choice on this file. You can still buy passives. You cannot mash [1] “just once” to find a lost duck — that is the whole point of the constraint.

What shop route actually saves time?

The shop is a grid of themed shelves, not a checklist you must walk in Steam-trailer order. Time dies on empty-handed crossings and on pretty rows.

  • Do01Work two shelves that face each other so the vacuum fills and the throw lands without a tour
  • Do02One theme per bag after Auto-Collect — mixed bags are extra walks
  • Do03High row you can see, then the bottom row (stance: tips)
  • Do04Leave bombs alone unless you still need Boooooooooom!!! on another save
  • Do05Do not pretty-sort. Correct seat, next duck
  • Do06If a shelf flashes red, use the trap table — do not circle the shop

Nearby categories

Chef vs Food is a sorting trap, not a verified map adjacency. Use facing aisles wherever they sit, once you know the sorting guide exceptions. Superheroes and Music can span two shelves — finish both before you leave that cluster.

Eggs on a timed save

A 10-egg lap is short if you already know the landmarks. It is still optional for No Time to Waddle. If you grab them, do QuackPOT → register chair → Animal/Music gap in one pass so you do not re-walk the office later. Full list: eggs.

What happens at the Sort Them Ducks ending?

After every unique duck is sorted, the game sends you to the office to copy a favourite. That is the Sort Them Ducks ending: not a boss, not a credits crawl you skip. The shop becomes a collection, then you pick a duck for the podium.

Master Sorter first

The ending does not start while the HUD is short. Recover clips first. Ending copies are extra bodies in the room, not 2,000 new unique IDs in the denominator.

Clock and ending

For No Time to Waddle, assume the run is live until the ending resolves — do not alt-tab for ten minutes on the podium. Patch 2’s Speedrun Timer is the clean way to see that.

Which duck should I copy?

Three Steam goals hang on this pick. You cannot flood the room with Mr. Duck and the giant red duck on a single choice.

Mr. DuckSimple yellow rubber duck with a topperOhhhh, Maaaan — 2,000 copies

Plan the save

Nice Choice fires on the act of copying. The named floods need the named ducks. Two ending saves, or accept that 100% needs a second pick. Identities: ducks.

Not secret eggs

Hatching ten eggs is Egg-cellent Timing. Copying at the podium is this section. There is no eleventh egg that unlocks the giant red duck.

FAQ

Is four hours tight?

Community optimized runs land around three hours, so No Time to Waddle has slack if you do not backtrack the whole shop.

What is the Sort Them Ducks ending?

After every unique duck is sorted you copy a favourite in the office. Mr. Duck and the giant red duck each have a flood achievement.

Can I do I Don’t Do Buttons and No Time to Waddle together?

Do not. No-buttons is slower; sub-four wants the vacuum. Split the saves.

Is there an official speedrun timer?

Patch 2 added a Speedrun Timer option. Use it on the timed save only.

Do I need all 10 eggs for the 4 hour challenge?

No. Eggs are a separate 100% lap. Grab them on the casual save unless you already know the route.
